Linfox Australia Pty Ltd, the largest privately held logistics company in Australia, was founded by Lindsay Fox, the Fox family’s entrepreneurial patriarch, in 1956.

Lindsay was born in Prahran, Victoria. He was dismissed from school at age sixteen due to academic disinterest and immediately began working as a truck driver. He purchased one truck at nineteen which he used to cart and deliver seasonal goods around his community.

As years passed, Lindsay continued investing in more trucks. He saw a significant expansion with the first major contract that he signed with Schweppes in 1958.

Lindsay married Paula Grace Peele in 1959 and together they had six children. As the company expanded, Lindsay brought his children into the fold. Linfox operates not only the most well-known logistics company in the Asia Pacific, but also an industrial property portfolio, a currency management service provider (Armaguard), and two airports. Lindsay’s sons, Andrew and David, run the property division and both airports.

The Fox family was struck by tragedy in 1991 by the suicide of one of their sons, Michael. In an effort to contribute healing for other families in similar situation, Lindsay joined the Federal and Victorian governments in strategising around youth suicide prevention. He also sits on the board for the National Advisory Council on Suicide Prevention.
