Russia’s biggest steel producer, NLMK, also engages through its facilities in the EU and the USA. The company was founded in 1931.
Novolipetsk began with an iron and steel plant at Lipetsk. The company expanded operations in the region over the decades, eventually becoming independent of state-ownership in 1992. After an asset split in its parent company, Trans-World Group, Vladimir Lisin became the company’s majority shareholder, as well as the Chairman of the Board, in 1998. NLMK continued to acquire other mining operations, including the Stoilensky iron ore business in 2004. In 2005, the company listed on the London Stock Exchange. NLMK expanded its EU and USA operations throughout the 2000s. In 2018, NLMK opened its first South African service centre.
Vladimir Lisin remains the Chairman of the company, reporting annual revenue of $12.1 billion.
