Sir Jim Ratcliffe is the co-founder and majority owner of Ineos, the world’s second leading producer of chemicals and plastics. In May 2018, the Sunday Times Rich List assessed his personal net worth at £21.05 billion, placing him atop the list as the UK’s wealthiest person. Ratcliffe was born on 18 October 1952 in Failsworth, England, and currently resides in Hampshire. Ratcliffe’s journey as a high-stakes financier started in 1992 when he mortgaged his house to lead a buyout of a BP chemicals business. Just six years later, he formed the firm now known as Ineos. Ratcliffe married Amanda Townson in 1985 and, together, they have three children.

Andy has a degree in natural sciences and spent the first 15 years of his career with BP Chemicals.
